The Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik informed the National Assembly in a written reply that the current coalition government has discovered 40 oil and gas reserves during its tenure. The announcement highlights progress in the country’s energy exploration efforts.
18 Reserves Already Operational
Out of the total discoveries, 18 operational reserves have already started production. These new oil fields and gas fields have strengthened the domestic energy supply.
By December 2025, the newly activated reserves were producing:

- 61 million cubic feet per day of natural gas production
- 1,553 barrels per day of oil production
This additional output has provided support to the Pakistan energy market and reduced immediate supply gaps.
22 Reserves in Processing Stage
The minister also stated that 22 reserves at processing stage will soon be brought online. Once operational, these fields are expected to boost national energy production capacity.
Officials believe this expansion will help reduce pressure on imports and lower the country’s import dependency on foreign energy supplies.
